Meridian Schools Placed On Probation

Just received word that the state has put Meridian Public Schools on probation. Apparently, a teacher at Meridian High School copied the English state test in 2007, and used it as a teaching guide to prepare students for the 2008 test. This is a major violation.

Of course, even more concerning is the fact that MHS principal Vicki Hood knew of the incident and chose to do nothing about it.

Meridian Public Schools have stated that they are taking steps to prevent this from happening in the future, but in our opinion, the teacher as well as Ms. Hood should be relived of their duties at MHS.

  2. Where is the outrage about this? Why will Meridian's School Board not take action? Both people are still in place. The principal is making decisions for next year that will impact the students of Meridian High for years to come. When the MDE expresses their concern, isn't that enough to send a message to the Meridian School Board and their superintendent? Or are the all rotten to the core? Very disappointing that a 5A School can excel on the playing field (football state champs) but have so little regard for academics.

  3. Annonymous Spell Check?? What about the people need to be "relived"; they need to be fired, for sure. I hope the teachers all over the state are getting this message. They should all be gathering copies of the state tests so their scores will be up and their jobs secure; it is obvious you can be fired for the kids scoring low on the test but not because the teacher cheated...Where is the logic in this????
